Manfrotto Befree Advanced Aluminium Twist Review
The Manfrotto BeFree Advanced Aluminium is a travel tripod that comes with a ball head with three independent ergonomic controls and newly designed leg angle selectors.
It is really tiny with a variable height from 40cm to 150cm.
There are two models available: either with twist lock or lever lock legs.
I will just review the model with the twist lock.

Features
The new designed BeFree tripod has a trendy striped design on the legs with a rubber grip on one leg, perfect if you are using it during the winter season.
The tripod has four leg sections and each leg ends with a rubber boot.
Mounted on the column there is a plastic grip to tighten or loosen to control and alter the height.
It is possible to reverse the centre column by removing the stopper on the column to have the possibility to shoot some low level photos.
In the central part on the tripod, between the ballhead and the legs, there is a hook used to add a counterbalance as well as the "Easy Link" screw port.
Easy Link is a new feature made by Manfrotto that easily lets you add supports for lighting and other accessories.
The ball head can be moved horizontally, clockwise by unscrewing a small knob.
By unscrewing another plastic knob it is possible to rotate the ball head. This larger knob has a friction to control the looseness of the ball head's movement.

Handling & Performance
With this new model that Manfrotto has released it is now really easy to set and alter the leg angle.
They bend into themselves to ward the head and keep things smaller.
When all the legs are open the tripod is very stable and sturdy.
The terminal part of the feet of the tripod are ridged to have the perfect grip on all surfaces.
Same thing for the the twist locks: they have got a texturised rubber grip so you won't slip in case the surface is wet.
The rubber grip on one leg will be very helpful during the winter season to protect your hand from the cold and have a more solid grip.
The max weight capacity of the tripod is 8kg, to allow you to mount a DSLR with a long lens (or just a big widelens with its filter holder and all the filters).
It is always recommended to hold your strap around your neck while adjusting the ball head with a heavy camera mounted.
The minimum height of 40cm is not so low and here is where inverting the centre column comes for.
